Week 5 - Confirmation

Bobo Team  •  Pregnancy  •  2 min read

Welcome to week 5 of this extraordinary journey with your partner!

Bobo will be sending you and your partner weekly updates on your pregnancy progress, child development, and Canadian based information up to the age of two. Here is a guide to assist you in navigating through each stage.

Confirmation of Pregnancy and Your Baby’s Development

As you enter week 5, the journey of confirming the pregnancy may still be ongoing as you take additional steps to validate it.

During this time, the blastocyst transforms into an embryo, developing into three distinct layers. The upper layer will eventually form your baby’s outer skin layer, central and peripheral nervous systems, eyes, and inner ears. The middle layer will contribute to your baby’s heartbeat, basic circulatory system, and lay the groundwork for their bones, ligaments, kidneys, and reproductive system. The inner layer will develop into the baby’s lungs and intestines.

Physical and Emotional Changes

You might start noticing subtle yet significant changes in her both physically and emotionally. Symptoms like fatigue, frequent urination, breast tenderness, excessive saliva, and food cravings or aversions may become more apparent. Some partners may also experience nausea, often termed morning sickness, which can actually happen at any time of the day.

Supporting Your Partner

Emotionally, be a steady presence as she navigates the roller coaster of feelings that accompany pregnancy. Listen actively, provide comfort, and validate her emotions, letting her know that it's normal to experience a range of feelings during this transformative time. Encourage open communication and be her pillar of strength, reminding her that you're in this together, ready to face whatever challenges may arise as a team.
